DAVID ANTHONY DWYER. who was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1909 and transferred to Associate Membership in 1912, was managing director of Messrs. F. C. Hibberd and Company, Ltd., Diesel locomotive engineers of Park Royal, London, a position which he combined with the technical directorship of the Irish Wire Products Company, screw and nail manufacturers. He received his technical education at the Northampton Institute, London, and during his apprenticeship from 1904 to 1908 in the locomotive shops at Crewe of the London and North Western Railway.
For a brief period to was assistant engineer to Messrs. G. D. Peters and Company, Ltd., of Slough, and during 1909 and 1910 filled a similar position with Messrs. Oxhide and Marshall, of Westminster. In 1912 he secured an appointment with Messrs. C. W. Burton, Griffiths and Company as technical engineering expert with responsibility for the design of machine tools. Subsequently he held, in succession, engagements with Messrs. Honeywill Brothers, the British Saw Sharpening Company, and the Kent Construction Engineering Company until he assumed the managing directorship of Messrs. F. C. Hibberd, Ltd., on the formation 1 of that Company in 1927.
Mr. Dwyer's death occurred, in his fifty-seven year, on 7th March l942.
