1877 Partnership change. '...the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us the undersigned, George Walters, Nathan Frederick Thompson, and James Woodward, carrying on business as Lock Manufacturers, in North-street, Wolverhampton, in the county of Stafford, in the name or style of Benjamin Walters.and Company, has been this day dissolved, by mutual consent, by the retirement of the said George Walters; and that the said business will henceforth be carried on at the same place by the undersigned, Nathan Frederick Thompson and James Woodward, in the name or style of Walters and Company...'[1]
1900 Company formed. 'BENJAMIN WALTERS & Co.- This company has just been registered with a capital of £24,000 in £1 shares (10,500 preference), to acquire the business carried on at North Street, Wolverhampton, by J. Woodward and N. F. Thompson, trading as Benjamin Walters and Co., and to carry (on the business of lock manufacturers, tool-makers, engineers, ironmongers, iron and brass founders, metal-workers, galvanisers, tube-makers, japanners, &c. The subscribers are James Woodward, Nathan Thompson. Joseph E. Woodward, Frederick C. Woodward, Henry E. Hill, Samuel J. T. Neale, and H. B. Curtis. The first directors are James Woodward, Nathan Thompson. and Joseph H. Woodward, each of whom may retain office so lung as he holds £1,000 shares; remuneration as fixed by the company.'[2]
