ARTHUR TRENCHARD HILL was connected with the West Surrey Water Company during the whole of his engineering career.
After completing his apprenticeship at the Grosvenor Road works of Messrs. Worthington-Simpson he was appointed to be assistant engineer to his father, the late Mr. John Kershaw Hill, who was resident engineer to the West Surrey Water Company, and he was placed in charge of the construction of a water tower on the St. George's Hills.
After serving in France during the War Mr. Hill resumed his position under his father, and upon the death of the latter in 1924 he succeeded him as Resident Engineer. Much new work was carried out by the company under his supervision, notably the erection of a new boiler house and rapid filters, while the whole of the plant was modernized.
Mr. Hill was born at Walton-on-Thames in 1889 and he died on 30th September 1929.
He became a Graduate of the Institution in 1911 and an Associate Member in 1917.
