"EDWARD GRAHAM LOWES, whose untimely death occurred as the result of a motor accident on 24th November 1948, was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1944.
He was born in 1908, and received his theoretical instruction in mechanical engineering at the Rutherford Technical College, Newcastle upon Tyne, and his practical training at the Neptune Engine Works of Messrs. Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson, Ltd., Walker-on-Tyne, shipbuilders, from 1924 to 1929, in whose employment he continued as junior draughtsman for a further five months.
