1849 John Harris moved to Hook Norton, purchasing a farm of 52 acres that included a malthouse. He expanded the business by becoming a dealer in hops.
c.1856 commercial brewing started.
1859 purchase of a beer house at Down End.
1860 Purchased the Pear Tree Inn at the end of Brewery Lane.
1880s The extension of the Chipping Norton railway line into Hook Norton brought a new set of customers (the navvies) as well as providing a means of transporting raw materials, equipment and beer.
1899 A 25 hp steam engine was installed to pump water from the well below. The engine is still in use for its original purpose.
1904 Purchase of a steam-powered wagon for use moving large loads from Hook Norton to Banbury.
By 1907 the tied estate consisted of more than 14 tied houses and four beerhouses.
1928 Purchase of Morris van for deliveries
1950 End of use of shire horse-drawn dray for deliveries
1985 Reintroduction of horse-drawn dray for local deliveries
Today, the Hook Norton Brewery estate consists of 44 tied houses.
