He was born on April 5, 1887, and on leaving school entered the office of Messrs. Mellowes & Company, Limited, of Sheffield. His merits were evidently very quickly recognized, as in a comparatively short time he was travelling abroad, and became an acknowledged expert in his particular line of busines - patent roof-glazing and constructional engineering.
He was appointed director and general manager of the firm at the early age of thirty-three, and held this position at the time of his death. Mr. Foulston had travelled very largely in France, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, &c., and was well known in business circles in those countries. He was nominated by the Patent Glazing Conference as a representative of the Building Trades Group on the Council of the Federation of British Industries, and was a member of the Royal Colonial Institute, the Junior Institution of Engineers, and of the Engineers' Club, London, being also a member of the Furnival Lodge of Freemasons.
Mr. Foulston was elected a member of the Institute of Metals on March 21, 1917.
