HARRY WALKER, O.B.E., who died in his seventy-fourth year on 28th December 1929, had been a Member of the Institution since 1890.
He joined Messrs. Clarke, Chapman and Company of Gateshead in the early days when the firm was known as Messrs. Clarke, Chapman, Parsons and Company.
Mr. Walker joined Sir Charles Parsons when the latter established his own works at Heaton, on the opposite bank of the Tyne, and was associated with him in the manufacture of the early turbines.
He rejoined Messrs. Clarke, Chapman and Company in 1891 as a director, and in 1907 became chairman of the company, whose affairs be continued to guide until shortly before his death.
