Mr. Mervyn Stanley Stutchbury, A.R.S.M., died on August 27, 1938.
On leaving the Royal School of Mines, where he was educated, Mr. Stutchbury spent four years mining in Cornwall, Russia, and Madagascar, before joining the staff of the Merton Metallurgical Company in London, the technical subsidiary of Henry R. Merton and Company, Ltd. For seven years prior to the War he reported on mining properties in various parts of the world.
At the outbreak of War, Mr. Stutchbury was appointed a Director of the Merton Metallurgical Company, which position he held until its liquidation, when he became associated with Metal Traders, Ltd., whose technical interests, consolidated in Metal Traders Technical, Ltd., were finally acquired by him.
Mr. Stutchbury was also for many years Managing Director of Thames Metal Company.
He was elected a member of the Institute of Metals on May 1, 1922.
