DAVID MEIN NESBIT, chairman of directors of Messrs. Ashwell and Nesbit of Leicester, died on 15th March 1929, in his seventy-fourth year.
He served his apprenticeship at ironworks in Newcastle-on-Tyne and was afterwards manager for iron founding companies in London and Leicester.
In 1884 he became associated with the late Mr. Frank Ashwell of Leicester, and after seven years as manager, entered into partnership with him. Mr. Nesbit was associated with a number of patents relating to heating and ventilating and was responsible for the heating and ventilating of the City Hall and Law Courts at Cardiff and the Midland Hotel at Manchester, and the revision of the hot water supplies of the "Mauretania " and "Lusitania."
During the War he carried out his greatest undertaking, in connexion with the Cordite Factory at Gretna.
He became an Associate Member of the Institution in 1895 and a Member in 1898.
