Benjamin Whitworth (1815-1891), of Benjamin Whitworth and Brothers

He went to Drogheda as a child
Benjamin was educated in England, and he later went into business in Manchester.
1843 May 1st. Married in Manchester to Jane Walker, daughter of Thomas walker, Corn merchant.
1851 Living at St. Stephen's Place, Thornton, Lancs: Benjamin Whitworth (age 35 born Manchester), Merchant trade in Fusteads. With his wife Jane Whitworth (age 36 born Salford) and their four children; Thomas Whitworth (age 7 born Manchester); John Whitworth (age 5 born Altrincham); Jane Whitworth (age 2 born Manchester); and Mary Whitworth (age 7 Months born Fleetwood). Also a visitor. One servant.[1]
He returned to Drogheda, and founded the Greenmount and Boyne Mills in 1865. This factory once employed 1,200 people and exported linen throughout the world.
1891 Will. Died 24th september. Of Goldhurst Terrace, Hampstead and late of Manchester. Head of Benjamin Whitworth and Brothers. Director of the Metropolitan Railway and Manchester Tramways Co. Connected with Bolckow, Vaughan and Co and John Brown and Co. Probate to his daughters Helen and Elizabeth. [2]
