DOUGLAS HALIBURTON WINDSOR, born on the 4th September, 1877, commenced his professional career under Messrs. Stothert and Pitt, of Bath, and subsequently obtained employment with Messrs. Lemon and Blizard, Consulting Engineers, of Westminster and Southampton, by whom he was engaged for 2 years on drainage, sewerage and estate work.
Leaving their service in 1900, he passed the open competitive examination for entrance to the Admiralty Works Department and was posted to H.M. Dockyard, Portsmouth.
After serving two years in that establishment, he was posted to Hong-Kong, where he arrived at Christmas, 1904, to take up the duties of Assistant Civil Engineer on the Director of Works’ staff, but at the outset of a promising career, he contracted enteric fever, which resulted in his untimely death on the 11th April, 1905, in his twenty-eighth year.
Mr. Windsor was elected an Associate Member of the Institution on the 3rd February, 1903.
