1860 Advertisement. 'PATENT CRANK WORKS, LINCOLN, for manufacturing Cranks out of round bars of iron or steel, and also for crushing Collars on the same, under [[Joseph Lee (of Lincoln)|Joseph Lee's]] First and Second Patents. The great advantages obtained by this process of bending Cranks are, that the fibre of the iron is continued all round the bend undisturbed, and being bent by a graduated pressure, it is impossible for them to be otherwise than perfectly sound as on the straight bars, and the cost, when finished, is nearly one-third less than those forged in the solid.
