1848 Thomas Barningham, a prisoner whose assets had been sequestered for unpaid debts, was to be brought before a judge: "Thomas Barningham, late of No. 98, Long Millgate, Manchester, in the county of Lancaster, Rope and Twine Manufacturer, and, while at the same place, a part of the time carrying on business in copartnership with James Barningham, Christopher Barningharm, and William Barningham, at Collyhurst Foundry, Collyhurst, near Manchester aforesaid, as Ironfounders, under the firm of Barningham, Brothers, if any such copartnership did exist, but which I deny, the said copartnership being carried on by the said James Barningham, Christopher Barningham, and William Barningham only, under the said firm of Barningham, Brothers."[4]
