1851 Living in Bridge Street, Heap, Birtle: James Mills (age 22 born Heap), iron founder With his wife Sarah (age 21 born Lytham). One servant. [2]
1861 Living at The Promenade, Southport: Matthew Mills (age 55 born Heywood), iron founder. 1880 October 26th. Died, of Moss Cottage, Heywood. His widow Sarah, was to be one of his executors.[5].
