After filling various temporary positions with gas undertakings and gas engineers he joined the staff of the [[Barnet District Gas and Water Co]] as a draughtsman in 1907, and in the following year was appointed works assistant to the manager. This position he retained until he went to Bedford to take up his final appointment, which he relinquished on his retirement in December 1939. Mr. Hansford had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1911.
