Archibald Arrol (c1816-1888)
Originally from the Buchlyvie area of West Stirlingshire, where his family were farmers. He moved to Glasgow as a young man. He became a merchant and eventually a burgess of the city, and joined the partnership of Taver & Arrol which held the Glasgow and West of Scotland agency for Roy’s Alloa Ales.

1881 Died. 'Mr Archibald Arrol, the principal partner of the firm of Archibald Arrol & Sons, brewers, Alloa, died at his residence, Blythwood Square, Glasgow, Tuesday night. He had been ailing for some time. Deceased was Justice of the Peace, chairman of the reorganised Caradon Copper Company, and a director in other public companies and local and philanthropic institutions. was 72 years of age.'[4]
