John Harvey

John Harvey was a Cornishman whose career started as a blacksmith and engineer at Carnhell Green near Hayle, in West Cornwall.
In 1779 he established a foundry and engineering works at Hayle called Harveys of Hayle
John had four daughters. His Johanna daughter married William West. Anne married Hohn Harvey, a cabinet maker of Helston. In 1797, Harvey's daughter, Jane, married Richard Trevithick.
John had four sons but two died through illness and in 1780 the third son aged 22 died in an accident at the foundry. His remaining son Henry Harvey took over the business
He died in 1803
