1841 Auction advertisement: 'Excellent Machinery for Preparing, Spinning and Weaving Cotton.—Free from Duty. T. M. FISHER, on Monday, the 9th day of August, 1841, at the mill, late in the occupation of John Parker, a bankrupt, situate in German-street, Oldham-road, Manchester; sale to commence punctually at eleven o'clock in the forenoon: THE Capital MACHINERY for Spinning and Weaving Cotton, including four very good 42-inch willows, nearly new; six capital double carding engines, each 43-inches on the wire, with licker-in, ten working rollers, ten clearers, in iron frames, at nearly new, by Hope; two ditto, ditto, ditto, and two 44-inches on the wire, with licker-in, eight rollers, eight clearers, all in wood frames; grinding frame for 48-inch cards; drawing frame, four single heads, ditto two double ditto, two ditto each three double ditto, and ditto two treble heads, four rows of rollers; Dyer's frame, twenty tubes, and three ditto, each 24 tubes; eight pair of mules, each 348 spindles, 16 inch rollers, 13½ inch spindles; winding frame spindles, twining jenny 250 spindles, three 30-hank reels, twelve-yard warping mill with creel and heck, two beaming frames, three twisting-in frames, skips, cans, spools, bobbins, reeds, healds, spare beams, driving straps, making-up press for 5 and 10 pound bundles, wrap reel; beams, scales, and weights; sixty-four dandy looms, twenty-three 7-8ths power looms by Peers, eighty 9-8ths ditto by Firmstone, and forty 9-8ths ditto Sharp, Roberts and Co., yarn and cloth in the looms, 9-inch lathe with face plate, chucks and rest, drills, turning tools, rose bits, cast and wrought iron, vice, and other effects.
