Major Gilbert Szlumper (1884-1969), Railway Manager.

Born at Kew.

Presumably son of James Weeks Szlumper


Best known for:

  • Planning and initiation of major Southampton Docks extension
  • Completion of Southern Railway electrification scheme.
  • General Manager of the Southern Railway 1937

For almost 25 years he was the right-hand man of Herbert Walker on the London and South Western Railway and the Southern Railway

Successor to Herbert Walker
