1813 Born in Eccles[1]/Manchester[2]/Salford[3] son of John and Emma Platt, a weaver[4].

1839 John Platt leased the Salford Iron Works from Sherratt's trustees.

1841 John Platt 60, a "machine maker", lived in Roman Road Terrace, Higher Broughton, with Emma Platt 55, William Platt 25[5]. John's workshop was in Greengate, Manchester

1845 The Mathers leased part of Salford Iron Works from John Platt

1847 John Platt died
