Henry Howell was one of the leading English cane makers, and supplied the specialized trade from his factory at Old Street, London, which was 60,000 sq. ft. and employed 550 people. He offered many ivory canes with hippo ivory handles and collaborated quite often with H. C. Meyer of Hamburg.
