Erasmus Habermel, or Erasmus Habermehl was born c.1538.[1]

Habermel was a renowned and prolific scientific instrument maker. Little is known about his background, but he may have come from Nuremberg. He was working in Prague from 1585 onwards, producing a wide range of mathematical and astronomical instruments. In 1593 he was appointed as instrument maker to Emperor Rudolf II in Prague. Nearly 150 of his instruments are known to have survived. Erasmus Habermel died on 15 November 1606.[2]
