1877 Messrs. John and James Hamilton, together with Alexander Carnegie Kirk, acquired the business of Robert Napier and Sons.

1911 James Hamilton 62, director of a company in shipbuilding and marine engineering, lived in Kensington with Mary Hamilton 46, Jessie Fleming Hamilton 30, Margaret Hope Hamilton 27, Christian Winifred Hamilton 26, Norah Mary Fenton Hamilton 10[2]

By 1922 Member of Council of M.I.N.A., of 19, Beaufort Gardens, South Kensington, S.W.

1932 Shipbuilder and engineer, died in Middlesex; probate granted to Capt Guy Hamilton (RN retired), Alexander Stephen otherwise Alexander MacLellan and James Denny Hamilton[3]
