Edwin Twemlow
Edwin Twemlow, M.I.Mech.E., of Fodens
1906 Born in Sandbach, son of Samuel Poole Twemlow, manager of the Foden steam waggon works[1], an influence on the Fodens firm in its early years[2].
Served apprenticeship with Fodens; on entering the drawing office (experimental staff), designed first pneumatic-tyred steam lorry produced in Britain, and later the Diesel range of Foden vehicles and engines.
1924 and 25 Won Lightweight T.T. races, Isle of Man
1940 Chief Designer, and Chief Engineer, of Fodens
1951 Joint Managing Director, Fodens, Ltd.
1979 Died in Aberconwy[3]
