1904 Member of the Council of the Iron and Steel Institute

1911 Living at Ford Bank, Didsbury, Manchester: John M. Gledhill (age 49 born Lancashire), Gentleman late Mechanical Engineer - Widower. Also his daughter Edith Norah Gledhill (age 9 born Lancashire). Seven servants.[2]
