1905 Sydney to Melbourne Trial

Held 21st-25th February 1905.

Sydney to Melbourne following the old overland coach route of 572 miles. This comprises 343 of good, 140 miles of second-rate and 89 miles of bad roads. It was promoted by the Dunlop Tyre Co. 33 Competitors started from Sydney.

Sections -

• Sydney to Goulburn - 129 miles (33 started and 29 completed)
• Goulburn to Gundagai - 121 miles (29 started and 28 completed)
• Gundagai to Albury - 121 miles (28 started and 26 completed)
• Albury to Euroa - 101 miles (26 started and 23 completed)
• Euroa to Melbourne - 100 miles (23 started and 21 completed)

Four heavy cars, three light cars and two motorcycles scored full points. There was then an additional stage of March 6th for these vehicles from Melbourne to Ballarat and return non-stop, a distance of 140 miles. One lady finished - Mrs. B. Thomson (7 h.p. Wolseley). The starters on this additional stage were -
