1835 Born in Paris

1854-5 Served in the Crimea in the Royal Engineers

1874 Lieut-Colonel P. H. Scratchley RE, was Inspector of Works, Royal Arsenal, Woolwich. He was a member of the sub-committee which conducted trials of a method of inflating a balloon on the battlefield[1]

1878-9 Major General Scratchley R.E., Assoc. Inst. C.E., was in charge of various constructions in Australia.

1885 Died at sea; buried at Charlton Cemetery[2]
