1915 Bankrupt. 'George Winteringham, residing Hardingstone, and lately carrying on business at St. Andrew’s-street, Northampton, engineer, and director of company....About 1889 he became interested T. and G. Hoskin, engineers, Birmingham, paying approximately £3,000 for half-share the business...He left London and went to live near Southampton, where his wife bought an old yacht, in which they lived nine or ten years. Seven children were born. He had no regular business during that time, and lived upon friends....He said rented house with four acres ground at Hardingstone...Winteringham and Co. built for him a greenhouse...'[2]
