ARTHUR GLYN WATKINS, M.B.E., was born in 1882 at Fremantle, Western Australia, and served his apprenticeship in the workshops of the Government railways from 1899 to 1904. He was later employed as junior draughtsman and technical clerk.
In 1906 he came to England to join the inspecting staff of the Crown Agents for the Colonies. After some years in this service he became a technical representative for Messrs. John Lysaght of Newport.
In the early days of the War he was appointed general manager of the Gloucester National Filling Factory under the Ministry of Munitions, and he was awarded the M.B.E. for his services in this capacity.
Mr. Watkins then entered the service of the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company and was appointed general manager. In 1931 he became managing director.
His death occurred on 2nd June 1932. He had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1911.
