1875 The results of initial experiments with the application of tuyeres for cold air to the top of puddling furnaces (based on the Rogers principle) were shown to a company of mill and forge managers visiting the Bull Bridge Ironworks, near Wolverhampton, of Messrs William Molineaux and Co. The iron produced was seen to be superior to that made without air blast and this could be obtained faster according to Messrs Molineaux and Rogers.[1]
- NB The Mr Rogers was presumably the partner in the American business Rogers and Burchfield who was recorded as visiting England that year.
