Born the son of Samuel Oddy, a Smith.
1839 Married at Prestwich to Mary Dyson, daughter of Edward Dyson, a Machine Maker
1861 Living at 8 Encombe Place, Salford: Samuel Oddy (age 41 born Salford), Machine Maker employing 130 men and boys. With his son Samuel Oddy (age 18 born Salford) and four daughters.[1]
