Samuel Oddy (c1820-1876) of Oddy and Oldfield
Born the son of Samuel Oddy, a Smith.
1839 Married at Prestwich to Mary Dyson, daughter of Edward Dyson, a Machine Maker.
1855 English Patents: Samuel Oddy, of Adelphi Iron Works, Salford, for improvements in constructing and lubricating the bearings of mule spindles ; dated July 5, 1855 [1]
1861 Living at 8 Encombe Place, Salford: Samuel Oddy (age 41 born Salford), Machine Maker employing 130 men and boys. With his son Samuel Oddy (age 18 born Salford) and four daughters.[2]
