George Hughes (Manchester)
1799 Advertisement: 'TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION, on Friday, the 15th inst. at No. 42, Lee-street, Ancoats-lane, Manchester. Sundry Household Furniture, together with the Stock in Trade of the late GEORGE HUGHES, Machine Maker CONSISTING of a complete set of Joiners, Turners. Smiths, and other tools, necessary for carrying on the said Business, also sundry Brass and Iron Work, part which is in an unfinish'd state, with a Mule Jenny nearly finished. The Goods may be viewed Thursday, previous to the said., and for further particulars application must be made to Mr. George Stirrup, Brazier, Oldham street, Mr. John Goolden, Timber Merchant, Ancoats-lane, or to F. M. Mallalieu, Ironmonger, Cateaton-street, administrators to the said Estate.'[1]
