1871 Thomas Hampton and William Radcliffe (1844-1908) built and operated a steelworks at the Ickles

1872 Sold the works to the adjoining Phoenix Bessemer Steel Co., Ltd. and the company was wound up.

1873 Thomas Hampton and William Radcliffe, both of Phoenix Direct Steel Works, Rotherham, in the county of York, Co-partners, were recently trading under the firm of Hampton, Radcliffe, and Company[1]
