Charles Ingham Haden (c1863-1947)

c.1863 Born in Trowbridge, son of George Nelson Haden

1948 Obituary [1]

"CHARLES INGHAM HADEN, whose death occurred on 24th May 1947, in his eighty-fourth year, was well known as a prominent heating and ventilating engineer and had been identified with the firm of Messrs. G. N. Haden and Sons, of Trowbridge, for the whole of his professional career, including his apprenticeship from 1880 to 1884. After serving as a draughtsman he was admitted to partnership in 1892 and placed in charge of contracts. His capacity for design greatly enlarged the scope of the business, many important institutions being equipped under his direction, including the new buildings at Leeds University, St. Bartholomew's Hospital, St. Paul's Cathedral, and the new town hall, Cheltenham. On the incorporation of the firm in 1919 Mr. Haden was appointed joint managing director and in 1933 he became chairman.

His retirement took place in 1938 after fifty-eight years service with the firm. He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1904 and was transferred to Membership in 1910. He was President of the Institution of Heating and Ventilating Engineers in 1910 and also President of the Association of Heating, Ventilating and Domestic Engineering Employers in 1911 and 1912."
