c.1930 Born in Alderley Edge[1], younger son of Vincent Gerard S. Z. De Ferranti

1949-50 Served in the Army

1950 Joined Ferranti Ltd as a manager in the domestic appliance department

1958 Elected MP for Morecambe and Lonsdale

1962 When he was (briefly) appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Aviation, he tried to dispose of his holding in the family company but was unable to do so.

1963 Deputy managing director International Computers and Tabulators

1964 Managing director

1964 Left Parliament

Director of International Computers Ltd until 1972

1979 Member of the European Parliament, where he argued for a single market in Europe

Deputy chairman of Ferranti Ltd

1988 Died aged 58[2]
