1867 Born in Greenock, eldest son of John Scott (1830-1903) and his wife Anne nee Spalding[1]

1901 Charles C Scott 34, Ship Builder & Marine Engineer, lived in Greenock, with Jane C Scott 28, Janet H Scott 1, Annie G Scott 6 Mo[2]

Member of Institution of Naval Architects, the Institution of Engineers and Shipbuilders in Scotland.

WE regret to have to record the fact that Mr. C. C. Scott died at his home in Larg,.,, A) n,hire, last Thun.day week. ~Ir. 'colt Wa.\1 in hU> forty-<'ighth year, and was the elde,t son of the late )lr. John Scott, C.B. The 'cott family, through its firm, UO\\ knO\\ n as 'coLt's hipbuilding and Engineering Company, Ltmited, of Greenock, has long hecn associated with the Cl) de shipbuilding industry. The late Mr. :-;colt was the head of the sixth generation of shipbuilden~, t>O that the family connection with the industry has now extended over the best part of two centuries. He r an education at J!'cttes College and Edinburgh U ni n•n;i ly, and after serving the Ut>uo.l apprentice<>hip, 1\Ir . .'coLt. \\as appointed in 1 90 assistant. engine works marH\:;:N at Greenock. I n 1900, when the firm became a liwitod liability company, he was made a~.sistant general manager. I n 1903, on tho death of his father, he became a managing director, and in 1905, on the death of his uncle, Mr. R. S. cott, he was appointed to the chairmanship of the company. H e was a member of the Institution of Nlwal Architects, of the Institution of Engineen, and , hiphuildcrs in 'cotland and of the British Corporation Committee a!ld \\a& a past-pr&idt>nt of the Clyde 'hipbuild<'r,,' .-\.ssociation and of the Xorth-We:3t Engineering Trade.s Employers' Association.
