1853 Born in Tynemouth, son of John Straker, coal owner, and his wife Isabella.
1870-1 Pupil at R. and W. Hawthorn, Newcastle
1872 Went on voyage to South America and back as an extra engineer.
1872 Entered Cambridge University
1876 B.A.
1876 Became a partner in R. and W. Hawthorn
1879 of Corbridge, became an Associate Member of the Inst Civil Engineers
1889 Married Annie Grace Hill
1898 A director of Hawthorn, Leslie and Co at the time they issued debentures[1]
1911 Charles Edmund Straker 58, engineer, lived in Hexham with Grace A Straker 51, Arthur Straker 19, student[2]
1934 Died in High Warden, Northumberland[3]
