1870s Started electrical work[1]; John Munro was responsible for the installation of the first telephone line in Glasgow.
c.1880 Responsible for the first application of electricity to street lighting in Glasgow by fitting arc lamps in front of the offices of the Glasgow Herald..
1881 Fitted Swan's lamps in factories at Selkirk and Hawick.
1909 John Munro retired as Partner and Technical Manager of the company
1912 Became a private limited company.
By 1920s it was the oldest firm of electrical engineers and contractors in the Kingdom
1922 Chairman and Managing Director: Thos. B. Wright, A.M.I.E.E. Specialities: Electric power and lighting, aeroplane accessories (metal parts), motor and dynamo repair works.
