SUMNER, John Richard Hugh; b. 27th Nov., 1886, at Yardley, Birmingham; s. of Sir John Sumner, F.S.A., Kt., of Birmingham and Powyke, Worcs. Educ.: Private Schools. Extensively interested in the tea trade, both in this country and in Ceylon. Chairman of Sumner's Typhoo Tea Ltd., Tea Buyers, Ltd., Typhoo Trust Investments, Ltd., actively associated with many philanthropic works and organizations; chairman of Sir John Sumner's Trust for charitable purposes; chairman of Colehaven Endowed Homes for gentlewomen at Coleshill; president of the Bromsgrove Cottage Hospital; president of the Birmingham and Midland Counties Nerve Hospital; Joint Master of Worcestershire Hounds; m. Beatrice Mary, d. of S. H. Black, of Frisby-on-the-Wreake, Leicester shire; one s. one d. Recreations: Hunting, shooting and farming.
