1949 Name of Northern Electric Vehicle Services was changed to Smith's Electric Vehicles Ltd and converted from a public to a private company.
1994 The company was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ringtons Ltd
1953 Directors: D. Smith. H. W. Heyman (Managing). D. Smith, Jnr. (Secretary). Sales Manager: E. Heyman.
1953 Name changed to Smith's Delivery Vehicles Ltd
1961 Name changed to Smith's Electric Vehicles Ltd
1997 Became SEV Group when the Ringtons holding was sold to MotionObject Ltd, a company owned by J. D. Smith and Ringtons.
2004 The fork-lift truck hire business was sold
2005 Name changed to Norquip Ltd, maker of electric vehicles and aerial access platforms. The ultimate parent company was Tanfield Group[1]. The electric vehicle and aerial access platforms business was sold to SEV Group[2]
