Charles Lyle (1851-1929) - Sugar Refiner and Shipowner of Tate and Lyle
1929 June. Died. 'The death has taken place in London of Mr Charles Lyle, sugar refiner, aged 78 years. He was a son of the late Provost Abram Lyle, Greenock, and nearly fifty years ago went to the Metropolis in connection with the sugar refinery which his father established at Silvertown'[1] 'Mr. Charles Lyle, of 54, Ennismore gardens, S.W., and formerly of Greenock, sugar refiner, a director of Messrs. Tate and Lyle.[2]
