William Cowan (c1824- )

c1824 Born in Edinburgh

1861 Living at Thirl hall, Eccleshall Bierlow, Sheffield: John Brown (age 44 born Sheffield), Manufacturer of Iron, Steel and Railway Springs, Merchant Alderman, employing 1200 men and 200 boys. With his wife Mary Brown (age 47 born Sheffield). Also a visitor William Cowan (age 37 born Edinburgh), Engineer. Three servants.[1]

1881 Living at 46 Skene Terrace, Old Machar, Aberdeenshire: William Cowan (age 57 born Edinburgh), Rail Locomotive Superintendent. With his wife Isabella Cowan (age 59 born Arbirlot, Forfarshire) and their two daughters Agnes C. Cowan (age 22 born Aberdeen) and Euphemia R. Cowan (age 19 born Aberdeen). Two servants.[2]
