1901 The first power station (the 'A' station) was opened by the Borough of Hackney. It originally burned local refuse as well as coal.

1948 Upon nationalisation of the electricity industry, the power station passed to the British Electricity Authority.

Following nationalisation a 'B' station was built, coming into use between 1954 and 1957. It was coal-fired, supplied from the River Lee Navigation, and later by road.

It had a generating capacity of 92 MW

1969 The A station closed.

1976 The B station was closed on 25 October.
