Birth of son Rex Cooper
1931 Died. 'Mr. Percy Stephen Cooper, Trinity road, Wandsworth Common, who has died at the age of 68, was responsible for one of the greatest romances in industry. Mr. Cooper was chairman and managing director of the firm of George Mason and Co., sauce manufacturers, of Southfield. He joined the firm 40 years ago as a young salesman, when, as a private enterprise, it had a humble little factory and was in a parlous state. A few years later he became managing director, and with the help of his engaging personality the firm made immense strides. It moved from one district to another, each time taking a larger and more handsome factory. The culmination of Mr. Cooper's uncommon enterprise was the recent opening of a commodious factory at Southfields, with which he celebrated his forty years' connection with the firm. The business now being carried on by a son, Mr. Rex Cooper, who has worked with his father for some time. Mr. Cooper leaves a widow, two sons and five daughters.'[1]
