1839 'At his chemical works, Denny, on the 21st Ult., Mr James Benny, age 76.[1]
1892 'Mr Robert Benny, of the Cartonhall(sic) Chemical Works, Denny, died somewhat suddenly in the Bath Hotel, Glasgow, yesterday. He left Denny on business Thursday enjoying his usual health, and took ill in the city in the course of the day. Dr Benny, Denny, his medical adviser, was summoned, and remained with him over night. He was between 60 and 70 years of age, and leaves a widow and daughter. The Cartonhall Chemical Works are among the oldest in Scotland, and these Mr Benny succeeded on the death of his uncle, Mr Michael Benny.[2]
1919 Robert Benny Limited was incorporated as a private company, with capital of £5,000, to acquire the business at Custon Chemical Works, Denny.[3]
1928 Manufacturing chemists, products derived from wood distillation.[4]
1964 The company went into voluntary liquidation.[5]
