1914 Ironmongers, Market Place, Ashbourn. Established over a century ago by a relation of the same name. Continued by W. Barnes, the present managing director, as W. Barnes, for fifty years. Incorporated as a Limited Company in 1911. Directors: W. Barnes (Managing Director), F. Davenport and H. Ryder. Premises: The whole of the front of the building was rebuilt in 1873 by W. Barnes. Staff: About twenty-two. Business: Wholesale and Retail Ironmongery, Machinery Agents, Manufacturers, Repairers. Patents: Automatic Oil Measuring Tank.
