c.1908 Sheepbridge Iron and Coal Co and John Brown and Co of Sheffield, formed the Rossington Main Colliery Co to exploit the Rossington and Wadworth coal fields.

1927 Yorkshire Amalgamated Collieries was formed to acquire and hold the shares of the Rossington Main Colliery Co and a number of other companies[1]
