William Edwin Bates (c1858-1913) of W. E. Bates and Sons

Born the son of William Bates, an Ironfounder and Engineer.

1881 Residing at 14 Dock Road, Leftwich: William E. Bates (age 41 born Sowerby Bridge), Engineer and Iron Founder Master Employing 30 Men and 16 Boys. With his wife Eliza, two daughters and six sons.[1]

1911 Residing at Elmcot, Rocky Lane, Heswall, Cheshire: William Edwin Bates (age 74 born Sowerby Bridge), Engineer and Iron Founder, retired. (and widower).[2]

1913 'MR. WILLIAM BATES, NORTHWICH. The will of the late Mr. William Edwin Bates, ironfounder, of the well-known firm of Messrs. W. E. Bates and Sons, of the Leftwich iron foundry, Northwich, who died at his residence, Kockylane, Heswall, Cheshire, has been proved at £6,758.'[3]
