1910 The Post Office Central Power Station was built on the site towards the end of the 19th century. It was subsequently acquired by the Liebig Extract of Meat Co in the 1920s, manufacturers of Oxo beef stock cubes, for conversion into a cold store.

1928-29 Re-built to a design by company architect Albert Moore
